I'm so confused, it is not showing up on my page after I posted it several times! please tell me if you see it or not.

  1. I feel that your essay does not completely address the prompt. Even though you analyze Jack's character as a villain, I am unable to see any indication of how his characters relates to and enhances the meaning of the work at large. Your body paragraphs seem to be mainly comprised of a summary of the work. I can see only some portion of your essay is directed towards describing the meaning of Jack's character. I would recommend going back to the novel and interpreting it to see how Jack adds meaning to the work in the light of savagery and inner evil of humans as a whole. You may also wish to use the microcosmic reflection of the world at large used by William Golding in this novel.

  2. Your essay is structured well and flows nicely! One thing I would consider working on is making sure you answer the prompt correctly. You have all the materials and examples to prove that Jack is a villain you just need to say it in your essay and then elaborate. Also, make sure you include how the character of Jack contributes to the meaning of the work as a whole! This might be the hidden "meaning" question that Holmes was talking about. I think that if you add a paragraph in addressing the meaning, your essay would get even better! Overall, nice job!

  3. Hello! I think that you picked a great novel for this prompt. I agree with the other commentators that you have a lot of summary in this essay. I think that if you focused more on the meaning (as stated in the prompt) that Jack's villainy creates, this would be a better essay. You touch on it at the beginning, but didn't bring it up again.
