Close reading # 1 is under " Close Readings"

  1. First off, I really like that article! Ok, I agree with the points you bring up, especially the imagery and the language. You seemed to be able to to pull out those aspects and analyze them more indepth. You also included great points of the diction but sometimes you focus too much on the article itself and less on what these techniques do to to the piece. You touch on somethings but I think you could more in detail. Speaking of detail! I think that the article has great detail points that you don't mention and that is one aspect you could really elaborate on! I think you just need to be a bit more analytical but this is still a great close reading!

  2. I really want to point out that I love that you ended your last paragraph with a quote. It just ties it all together really well! The article was really touching to me, having the author write about working with all of those kids was amazing. I loved that you pointed out that she brought back throw in her work, it really points out how the author really thought about her own writing and making it better through out. The only suggestion I really have is the same as carina's, maybe you could pin point some more detail, and go over it a little bit more.

  3. I really like your comments on this article, and you have pretty clear techniques that you are looking at in the first and last paragraph. I'm not sure what the topic of the middle paragraph is; is it an extension of imagery? I really like how you find the connection between the double use of "throw" and overall meaning. That's really clever on your part. I'm not quite sure if you have any kind of thesis, or over message you want to convey. It seems like you're just spouting out the things you picked up by reading it. I bet you have an opinion on Romanian orphanages, so maybe you could share that with us.
