I loved when you mentions that you can be a bit scattered because I can totally be the same way! I do find that I am able to focus better and be more analytical when I have smaller parts to focus on. I also felt the same way about DIDLS. I had only learned the surface of them but we've expanded on them so much I feel my understanding has greatly increase. The Thesis Answers Prompt was alsom something I had heard of before but nothing as indepth as we have gone. Picking apart each thesis has really helped me to make sure I am answering the prompt!
I am completely on the same page as you wen it comes to getting overwhelmed. I always have to break down the task into smaller tasks, so I don't freak out, and so I can focus and do my work better when it comes to doing the analysis or different pieces. To me DIDLS was new to me, so you're lucky you had already knew about it! I do agree with Carina and you that after learning about them in class, I understand them so much better.
I'm glad you mentioned the poetry techniques we learned because I totally overlooked them when I was reflecting, and poetry is one of my favorite mediums to study. I even tried reading some in German (talk about over-ambitious). I too have been struggling with actually answering the prompt with my thesis, partially because I'm terrified of being the kid who answers "It is a time". I had a lot of experience with diction and language, but the other three were pretty new to me. I had never even heard of syntax before, and I'm still struggling with the difference between details and summarizing. But I'm glad you're feeling comfortable with out favorite acronym.
